COVID-19 Plan

The clinic is open and whilst I always adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols, there will be a few changes to your attendance. As always I aim to make your appointment as comfortable and pleasant as possible, but ask you to be patient during this time. Here is what to expect when you visit:

  • Appointments will be lengthened and bookings will be staggered to allow a full clean down of the clinic room and entrance.
  • You will be sent a COVID 19 Declaration form via email, please read and sign on the day of your appointment.
  • Please do not attend if you or someone you have been in contact with have had a cough, runny nose, fever, sore throat or loss of taste and smell in the last 14 days.
  • If you need to reschedule your appointment because you or someone you have been in contact with has the above symptoms we will do so.
  • Please reschedule your appointment if you have travelled overseas in the last 14 days and have not had a negative PCR test.
  • You will be asked to wait in the foyer with a mask on until you are called into the clinic room.
  • Please do not bring anyone else with you unless it has been discussed and permitted by myself.
  • Please only bring with you things that you need for the appointment.
  • On entering the building you will be asked to sanitise your hands.
  • You may wear your own face mask. If you don’t have one a disposable mask will be offered to you.
  • I will be wearing a face mask during your treatment to protect you and myself. I will also be wearing my usual PPE of disposable aprons and non latex gloves.
  • I ask you not to pay with cash, but to pay with any debit or credit card, via bank transfer.
  • When you leave, a full clean down of the clinic room and entrance room will take place.
  • If you have any symptoms in the next 14 days please notify me so that I can carry out a risk assessment and contact tracing.

Here is the full version of our policy:

Introduction

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease, people infected with the COVID-19 virus experience a mild to severe respiratory illness. The most effective way to prevent and slow down transmission is to wash your hands or use an alcohol based sanitiser to rub your hands with frequently and not touching your face.

The virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Happy Face Aesthetics recognises that staff and patients may have concerns about the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Infection with coronavirus can lead to the disease covod-19. It has been reported that there are a significant number of confirmed cases in the UK. This policy is to ensure staff and patients reduce the risk of getting covid 19.

The primary preventative measure is to follow guidance set out by Public Health England. More generally, to reduce the risk of spreading this or other conditions with similar symptoms, such as flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bin.
  • Follow the social distancing guidance.

Appointments and treatments

We operate on an appointment only basis. All patients are screened ahead of their appointment with the following questions:

  • Have you had the recent onset of a new continuous cough?
  • Do you have a high temperature?
  • Have you noticed a loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell?

This proforma is kept on the patients  file.

A screening proforma at the clinic is also completed every time a patient visits (see appendix).

We encourage all our patients to use hand sanitiser or handwashing facilities as they enter the clinic before and after treatment to reduce the risk of infection.

Patients will remain at the entrance until they are escorted into the clinic. This is so we can maintain social distancing. When waiting areas can no longer maintain social distancing, we will operate on a ‘one-in-one-out’ policy.

Signs and symptoms of COVID-19

Typical symptoms of coronavirus include fever and a cough, loss of taste and smell that may progress to a severe pneumonia causing shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Generally, COVID-19 can cause more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems, older people, and those with long-term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease.

If any symptoms are experienced and you believe that you have been exposed to someone who may have the virus then you should:

  • Contact the clinic manager immediately via telephone or email.
  • Stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with other flu viruses
  • Contact NHS 111 to inform them of your symptoms and seek further advice.

Please do not leave your home until you been given advice by a clinician.

Social distancing to make the workplace COVID safe

The Health and Safety Executive has clear guidelines on social distancing measures to reduce the risk of the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

At the clinic we follow control measures set out by GOV.UK so that the clinic remains a safe work place. We will :

  • Display signs reminding people and staff to socially distance, wash hands and not touch their faces
  • Maximise ventilation
  • providing signage to remind staff and patients to keep a 2 m distance
  • having staff work side-by-side rather than face-to-face
  • We limit the movement of people in the clinic
  • Use barriers to protect patients and staff

Where possible, everybody should keep a two 2 m distance apart. When this is not possible we will consider:

  • If the activity is necessary
  • Review the number of people in the clinic and reduce this to maintain distance.
  • Limit the movement of staff and patients around the clinic.
  • Limit the amount of different equipment that staff or patients need to touch
  • Use screens to create a physical barrier.
  • Mark the floor to show people they must keep a 2 meter distance.

Guidance for staff

All staff must complete a risk assessment, this is to make sure measures are in place to support staff work safely in the work place.

Staff with symptoms of Covid-19 must stay at home as per guidelines set out by the Department of Health.

Staff who become unwell with symptoms at work, should immediately stop working, inform the manager and go home.

Staff testing

Staff with symptoms of covid 19, or those living with someone with symptoms of Covid19, can access testing via https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

 Vulnerable staff

Staff who are issued with guidance to shield on medical grounds as clinically vulnerable from Covid19, should not see patients face to face. (see guidance in the appendix)

Public Health England report ‘Disparities in the risk and outcomes of COVID-19’ shows that some groups of people may be at more risk of being infected than others.

The higher-risk groups include those who:

  • Are older males
  • Have a high body mass index (BMI)
  • Have health conditions such as diabetes
  • From some Black, Asian or minority ethnicity (BAME) backgrounds

All staff should be risk assessed to consider if they should see patients face to face.

Staff return to work

Staff may return to work after 10 days isolation if they have received a negative PCR test and are feeling well enough to complete their duties safely.
