July Newsletter

Welcome to our July newsletter. I hope you are enjoying the fairer weather, even though it has a bit unpredictable.

What’s new?

At Happy Face Aesthetics we have opened our Wellness Clinic, which is aimed at helping you to boost your energy, have brighter skin and luscious hair. In the future we are hoping to extend these services to include private health checks, blood tests and sexual health testing. I am just gauging the demand for these services so if you have any feedback on services you would use, or think would benefit the community please let me know.

Currently, the Wellness Clinic is offering advice and supplementation so please get in contact if you would like more information.

As always, if you are feeling unwell or think there might be a medical reason for your symptoms of tiredness, skin issues or hair loss you must see your GP to discuss. Any treatment may be delayed if I feel you must seek investigations with your GP first.

Featured treatment – ScreenCancer Mole checks

One of my most well used services in clinic is our ScreenCancer Mole checks. I often have unwilling husbands being dragged in by their exasperated wives to get their dodgy looking lesions checked. Most of the time the lesions are benign, but we have been fortunate enough to pick up a couple of lesions that went on for a cancer referral.

In the clinic we take a history and measure your lesion, then we take a highly pixelated dermatoscopy medical image. Your record and your images get sent to a consultant dermatologist who reviews them and gives you the result within 2 weeks. Should you need further advice or support either the dermatologist or dermatology nurses will call you to discuss.

Look out for my mid-month blog for more details about this service.

Skincare secret weapon – Gentle foaming cleanser

A lot of people I see in clinic think they have dry patches or spotty patches, and over process their skin in order to resolve the problem. It always makes it worse! Often they are just using products that are too harsh or too oily and need to completely simplify their routine.

This month we are starting at the very first step of your skincare routine. Cleansing your face does not seem like it would be something with pitfalls or disadvantages, and as simple as it is, there are ways to do it wrong.

Steer clear of disposable wipes. Whilst they are great at removing the visible signs of makeup, they do not cleanse deep enough to remove all of the dirt and often just smear it about your face. If you are going to use them, follow up with a gentle foaming cleanser to really get the cleanse you need.

When choosing a cleanser pick a gentle foaming cleanser. Some cleansers that are medicated or have stronger ingredients are great if they are targeted towards a particular problem, but they do not suit most skin types. A gentle foaming cleanser with help brighten the skin, make it feel soft, allow the skin to rest and restore overnight. It will not dehydrate your skin, alter the barrier function or irritate your skin.

My favourite products are ClinicCare Gentle Cleansing Foam (£18.50 for 100ml) and Obagi Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser (£54 for 200ml), both of which are sold here in clinic.

A cheeky bonus

Our last dermaplaning offer was overwhelmingly booked out and I got so much pleasure in taking away all your dry skin and peach fuzz, I have decided to do it again.

Nothing beats the fresh feel of your skin after a dermaplaning session! Did you know any skincare products you may use are up to 70% more effective after dermaplaning, as the hair can’t act as a barrier if it’s not there!

What Are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?
*Rejuvenated Skin.
* Fewer Fine Lines and Wrinkles.
* No More Peach Fuzz.
* More Effective At-Home Skincare Regimen.
* Cosmetics Will Go on Easily..
* Help for Acne Sufferers.

Drop me a message or call to book in. Alternatively, you can book in online.

Anti-ageing tip – Sun protection

The sun is responsible for 90% of visible skin ageing. This means that most of our wrinkles, crinkles and dark spots are preventable, or at least manageable. Ultraviolet rays are able to damage your skin even through cloud and glass, so even in winter your skin is still vulnerable. You may be relying on the SPF in your moisturiser and foundation to protect your skin, but what if I told you that it is not enough?

You will see an improvement in the colour, tone and condition of your skin when you start using the right sun protections. Choose a mineral/physical sun block of 30-50 SPF with a four or above star rating to get safe all round sun protection.

Ask in clinic for more advice.

I hope you have a lovely July and I look forward to seeing you in clinic soon.

Best wishes,

Helen
